Divinity

What is or is not divine is different in various belief systems. God is thought by some to be the one that never changes and is always the same. Others say it is the ever-expanding light of the universe. But the dominant ideology of religion has been that of the authority of God over man, sovereignty.

In Hinduism the Divine Self is the Self that exists at an even higher level than the soul; it is in every human being ever born. It is the true self essence of the Universe that dwells in your being, the source of all light and life within you, and your true motivation for living. In Hinduism there are about 33,000 gods (maybe even more). And each individual can be reincarnated as many times as needed to find enlightenment.

There is the idea that the Divine is in everything. Does that include things that we regard as waste or evil. If so, what is the purpose that the Undivine serves in creation. This begs the issue whether everything that happens to us in our life can be taken as coming from the Divine.

The term “Buddha” comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “enlightened,” “knowing,” or “awake.” In Buddhism it is used as a title for anyone who has achieved enlightenment. In Buddhism, it is the “ Life of the Universe ” in which we dwell, that is regarded as the divine. And metta is benevolence toward all beings, without discrimination or selfish attachment.

Some truth seekers and believers see an evolution of consciousness that allows then to manifest the reality that defines their being.  Some believe the divine universal power does not interfere in day to day events as many would like to believe, but has already created all possibilities in the beginning.

The recent quantum discoveries and controversies surrounding a great universal field of energy may be the matrix of all matter and influencer of everything that happens. Some call this the Divine Matrix. From remote viewing to quantum entanglement, we see that matter, form and consciousness have always been connected since the moment of the big bang.

Our ancient ancestors tried to describe this field and its phenomena, yet modern science is just now beginning to understand that the Divine Matrix does exist. The implication is that we evolve from an atomic-level Planck-scale monodimensional consciousness to multidimensional galactic-scale consciousness. Out of many, one; and out of one, many.

Internet search engines report that about 80% of Americans believe God exists. Percentages are somewhat less for Canada and Europe. But church attendance was steadily attendance is declining even before the pandemic. In the early 1990s, the historical tether between American identity and faith snapped. Religious non-affiliation in the U.S. started to rise—and rise, and rise. By the early 2000s, the share of Americans who said they didn’t associate with any established religion (also known as “nones”) had doubled. By the 2010s, this grab bag of atheists, agnostics, and spiritual dabblers had tripled in size.

After 500 years of scientism, there is compelling evidence that overturns mainstream thinking about human origins and the role of evolution in our lives. There is even a radical new idea that humans were created by aliens using genetic engineering.

People who claim to have the "word of God" are often all to ready to divide the human psyche into a good and a worthless portion, and saving souls at all cost. A religious war or holy war is a war primarily caused or justified by differences in religion. Religion has become another form of government—a form of government that seeks power and domination, a form of government that seeks to overcome its competing rivals, the competing agendas of other religions and faiths.

And so there is a contest and a kind of war exerted between the most radical elements of the various systems of belief. The Crusader leader, Godfrey of Bouillon, wrote to the Pope, "If you want to know what has been done with the enemy found in Jerusalem...our people had their vile blood up to the knees of their horses."

Panpsychism is the view that all things have a mind or a mind-like quality. In philosophy of mind, panpsychism is the view that mind or a mindlike aspect is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of reality. It is also described as a theory that "the mind is a fundamental feature of the world which exists throughout the universe."

Panpsychism is one of the oldest philosophical theories, and has been ascribed to philosophers including Thales, Plato, Spinoza, Leibniz, William James, Alfred North Whitehead, Bertrand Russell, and Galen Strawson. In the 19th century, panpsychism was the default philosophy of mind in Western thought, but it saw a decline in the mid-20th century with the rise of logical positivism. Recent interest in the hard problem of consciousness has revived interest in panpsychism.

At the turn of the nineteenth century, physicists started to explore the relationship between energy and the structure of matter. In doing so, the belief that a physical, Newtonian material universe that was at the very heart of scientific knowing was dropped, and the realization that matter is nothing but an illusion replaced it. Scientists began to recognize that everything in the Universe is made out of energy.

However it’s not just knowing information and facts that will create change, it’s changing ourselves, how we go about communicating, and re-assessing the underlying stories, ideas and beliefs that form our world. We have to practice these things if we truly want to change.

Perhaps the wise old bearded man on a throne in the sky is ready for a big upgrade makeover and be recognized as all in all. In the past few hundred years our understanding of the physical world has changed drastically while our idea of divinity has not.
In fact western religion has often been used as a tool of oppression rather than enlightenment. However the idea that all is one seems to be making progress. If time and space are not real and everything is energy in vibration, then perhaps the Divine is the summation of these vibrations.

It is likely that the divine or God is not an old man in the sky, but is the summation of all consciousness which is well beyond human comprehension. Just because many religions have been mistaken does not mean God is unreal.
